**An Unusual Dessert for Most**As I remember Dad on Father's Day, we celebrated the day with a special meal either at our place, or at a relative's home, or maybe even in a restaurant. The dinner could be beef and pork. Of course, potatoes and gravy, vegetables and pickles too.As anyone who knew Dad, can recall how much he loved having a dessert or two. It could be apple pie with a "hunk of cheese" as he called it, rhubarb pie, pecan pie with ice cream or taffy tarts.But... he couldn't get one dessert in a restaurant. If Mom cooked a roast, I knew Dad would ask for something, not normally on the table. From the breadbox, Mom would hand Dad a slice of bread. He'd put it on his plate, then pour some gravy on it, before eating it.I continue that tradition.© Stephen Nelson 2022 ... See MoreSee Less
