**Is It In Miles Or Kilometres?**Depending on in which country you live, you use either the metric system or the imperial system for measurement. As the title of this post indicates, distance is measured in miles or kilometres.Farmers can drive their tractors hooked up to their farm implements a long way to reach the field they want to work in. Travelling back and forth across a field and making turns before the end of the field might not seem like much distance, but adding the distance of each pass of the field does accumulate after a while. When a person unfamiliar with tractors looks at the numbers in a line on a tractor’s dashboard, they might think they express the distance in miles or kilometres that the tractor has travelled in its lifetime. In this case, they would be wrong. Those numbers indicate the number of hours the tractor has been used. Even if a tractor has been sitting still, but its engine turned on, the hour meter is running, counting the time the tractor is in use. An odometer calculates the distance traveled, so sitting still with idling engine doesn’t affect the odometer. When you buy a used car, you check the odometer, and when buying a used tractor, you check the odometer to see how many hours is on the tractor. As a final note, the saying goes to kick the tires of a used car, but I’m not sure if a farmer kicks the tires of a used tractor. ...
